03-069. JAMES GANG ROBS TRAIN - The Commonwealth Topeka, KS Feb. 1, 1874- P.1 col 2 under "CRIMES AND CASUALTIES" is a nice article headed "Railroad Robbery". First report of the Gads Hill train robbery by the James gang. The story quotes a note left by the robbers detailing the facts of the robbery. I suppose they wanted the press to'get it right.' Nice bit of PR work by Jesse! CCATS $95

Goes on "Is Holladay such a desperate man as he has been pictured? / He will shoot if he has to and never seemed to care who shot at him. Great wild West. CCATS. $150

DEATH OF BILLY THE KID - Ouachita Telegraph LA July 22, 1881- P.2, col. 4:"From Las Vegas, The Coroner's jury on the body of Billy, the Kid, returned a verdict of justifiable homicide...and Pat Garrett deserved the thanks of the community for ridding the country of the desperado. The Kid was a beardless youth of 21 years and was born in New York. His boast that he had killed a man for every year of his age is probably true." $165

03-060. OUTLAW, TOM HORN - Laramie Boomerang WY Oct. 29, 1903- P. 1 Col. 5 bold headline: "HORN'S LETTER TO OHNHAUS/ Asks Him To Save His Life." While Horn was awaiting execution ( in 3 weeks) he wrote a letter to a witness against him, asking that witness to change his story. This report has Horn's attorneys breaking the news of the date of the hanging. "Horn paced up and down his cell but made no further comment. Great report in a local paper. $85
