THE OLIVE BRANCH PETITION - New England Chronicle Boston, MA Aug. 31, 1775- Front page printing of the statement adopted by the 2nd Continental Congress after the Battles at Lexington, Concord, and Bunker Hill. This was the colonists last attempt to settle with Britain short of war. It restated the grievances but  asked King George III to prevent further bloodshed.  The King refused to receive the petition thus assuring continuation of the Revolutionary War.   $690
